The Montessori Classroom in North Vancouver

At Mes Petits Montessori Academy, the classroom has more than four walls. It feels like a child’s own little world. The space is cozy and filled with light. Each shelf and material is placed with care so children can explore at their own pace.

Our academy is in Central Lonsdale, North Vancouver. Here, children ages 2.5 to 5 years old grow in confidence each day. They learn through choice, play, and simple routines.

A Space Made for Children

Our classrooms differ from those of a typical daycare or preschool. You will not see rows of desks. You will see low shelves and child-sized chairs along with activities that invite little hands.

Teachers guide with kindness. They do not lecture. Instead, they help each child follow their own path. This trust builds confidence and joy. Children feel safe to try, fail, and try again.

Practical Life and Montessori Materials

Life in the classroom is full of useful tasks. Children cook, clean, and care for plants. These activities improve focus and build responsibility.

Montessori materials make math and language clear. In a Montessori classroom, children use beads, puzzles, and sandpaper letters to learn through hands-on activities. Instead of just memorizing, they see, touch, and practice until the concept is real. This helps them build lasting confidence and understanding.

Freedom is balanced with rules. Children may choose their work, but they also learn limits. This balance supports creativity and discipline at the same time.

Two Classrooms, One Philosophy

At Mes Petits, we welcome children in two groups.

Lower Classroom (ages 3–4): Young learners build early skills in language, daily routines, and social play. They grow through repetition and imitation.

Upper Classroom (ages 4–5): Older children are introduced to more advanced materials. They prepare for Grade 1 with early math, reading, and cultural lessons.

Children learn from one another in these mixed-age groups. Younger students watch and copy older ones. Older children guide their peers and gain confidence as role models.

Outdoor Play and Community

Learning continues outside. Each day, children spend time in St. Andrews Park in Central Lonsdale. Fresh air, movement, and play are part of their routine. The park helps them explore nature and build friendships.

Preparing for School and for Life

By the time children leave Mes Petits Montessori, they are ready for Grade 1. They are curious, confident, and kind. Most of all, they know how to care for themselves and respect others.
